Background
Smart Navigation in Real Time for an Enhanced Driving Experience
The Waze app offers a smart navigation solution that calculates the optimal route in real-time, based on updates and information provided by users. In addition to navigation, the app allows users to report traffic jams, accidents, hazards on the road, and other issues, providing an accurate and up-to-date driving experience.
Problem
Limited to Only Two Destination Points
Currently, the app allows users to set only two destination points. This limitation creates inconvenience when users want to plan routes with more than two destinations, making it difficult to manage complex trips efficiently.
Objective
Flexible Route Management with Multiple Destinations and Arrival Times
The goal is to enable users to set more than two destinations, customize the route to meet their personal needs, and specify the arrival time for each destination along the way. This feature will provide a more convenient, flexible, and efficient driving experience, especially for complex trips.
Research
Market Analysis
Before starting the design, I conducted a thorough market analysis of existing platforms offering similar products
These apps offer navigation with real-time updates on road conditions. I compared the user experience of each app and identified the positive and negative features of each.
Survey
I conducted surveys and interviews to analyze the user experience and identify pain points regarding the addition of more destinations.
Persona
User Journey
After a day of studying in Tel Aviv, Daniel plans to go to Hadera, Rehovot, and Jerusalem, and return to a university party by 9 PM
Challenge
Pain points were analyzed and mapped into two main categories
01 Limitation on the Number of Destinations
It is not possible to define more than two destination points, which limits the user in planning a broad and complex route. Additionally, it is not possible to plan a full-day trip with multiple destinations.
02 Lack of Flexibility in Destination Order
The system does not allow swapping the first and second destinations, making route planning less flexible. Also, the user cannot change the order of the destinations after they have been set.
Solution
Limitation on the Number of Destinations
01
Unlimited Destination Addition Option
Users can add an unlimited number of destinations, allowing them to plan personalized and complex trips according to their needs.
Solution
Lack of Flexibility in Destination Order
02
Option to reorder destinations
The user can easily swap between destinations and change the order of the destinations as needed, providing more flexibility in trip planning.
